Suspicion arose in late August of 1988 when Bert Gonzales Montoya, a boarder, failed to show up for an appointment and was missing. The police would being an investigation on Dorothea Puente and her boarding house located at 1426 F Street. During that investigation they would uncover the bodies of seven individuals, including Bert, buried in the yard
