Jonestown was a tragic and infamous mass suicide that occurred on November 18, 1978, orchestrated by Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple. Over 900 followers died after drinking cyanide-laced punch at Jones's command in a remote settlement in Guyana, South America.
